Different Cultures

Page history last edited by jay dedman 3 yrs ago

I would like to see daniel interact with a culture that is totally foreign to him and to people who do not speak the same language. I'm not sure where in the US he could go for this (I'm not American) or if it would mean a trip overseas somewhere - but I assume there are pockets of suburbs/towns where people are living and existing as if they are still in another country. I would like to see his perspective on the differences and similarities in comparison to his own life/upbringing. I like the ideas mentioned earlier about not using voice - if he couldn't speak the same language, I'd be interested to see how he could communicate with images and sounds to reach a common ground with people & culture he's not familiar with. -- kath 09/07/2006

This is an interesting idea - travel to "foreign countries" within your own country. In Toronto, they have Chinatown, Little Italy, Little Greece, etc. I'm sure that New York would have lots of these small "countries-within-a-country". I love the idea of a language barrier.--Anne - filter
