-- LESS IS MORE? (BEGIN) --
What I got out of Daniel's original vlog about this project and his follow-on post was that he was looking for, among other things: chance, restrictions and travel. I propose we use these elements in the following way:
One destination per day (Travel):
Each day, the order of magnitude of the local population decreases. Start off in NYC (~8M), then a smaller city (e.g., Boston, ~600K) and so on until he’s somewhere with population 0. Hopefully this involves at least one flight somewhere (fun!). What will Daniel seize on to show the differences? Probably not what I’d expect.
On top of that, add one rule per day (Restriction and Chance):
The following is a list of simple ideas that could be made much more elaborate. We could play with this quite a bit. For instance, the restrictions could be additive, such that an additional restriction is made each day. Alternatively, they could be subtractive as time goes on. The chance part comes into play because we don’t tell him what the restriction is until they day he shoots.
* Use only still shots
* Show only one thing (skies, grounds/floors, walls/windows, faces, liquid)
* No sound
* No voiceover
* Black and white
* One color
* No music
* One shot (no cutting)
* Use only cell phone/small digi cam/high end cam
* (Your idea here…)
I think this is defined enough to make it fun/interesting, but open-ended enough to still allow Daniel to do what he does best: vlog like a mofo!
