Pouringdown: Seven Maps

The Seven Points

Page history last edited by Anonymous 3 yrs ago

I would like to set three major challenges in Dan’s attempt to create “Seven Maps”; artistic, physical, and technical. Since most of Pouring Down takes place right out Dan’s front door I feel Dan should be forced to explore what lies directly beyond that point. Restricted to: 40∞ 52.22’ N latitude, Dan must visit seven points across the United States. Starting at: 124∞ 09.07’ W, 113∞ 55.07 W, 105∞ 55.07 W, 97∞ 55.07 W, 89∞ 55.07 W, 81∞ 55.07 W, 73∞ 55.07 W. This west to east migration should take place in seven days with a posting each night. Each post must be seven minutes long with music that runs under the entire piece. Dan will be limited to shooting video only on his travels to and from the location and will be allowed to shoot 14 minutes of raw material for each post. Once at the location Dan can only shoot still images, four: one in each direction. He will only be allowed one minute of VO for each piece, except for the last one, when he returns home. He will be allowed an extra minute for reflection about the whole process.

The Seven Points post show the basic rules and guides for Dan. What I want to see is how Dan “problem solves” as he gets to all of the locations, in his allotted time. These are very specific points and Dan must do all he can to get there. What hurdles will Dan encounter and how will he jump them?

It is all about the journey, not the destinations. The points are mild curiosities this is why still photos will work nicely.
